The Sikkim Organic Mission aimed to implement organic farming plans and turn 50000 hectares of land organic. The state government implemented many steps, starting with the ban on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides by withdrawing their subsidies in 2003. Then they removed the transport and commission subsidy in 2006. All sale points clammed down, and the central government's agriculture yearly statistics began showing Sikkim's pesticide-free record. Indigenous technologies and scientific pest management facilitated organic agriculture. The State also sought to make certified organic manure available to farmers, established vermiculture, and started livelihood schools to educate people on organic farming.
