The Muduligadia model of Nayagarh district in Odisha sets an awe-inspiring example of eco-tourism for the entire country. As a part of the Community Managed Nature Tourism program around the Satkosia Tiger Reserve, the Muduligadia village has taken steps like setting up private and community toilets, a no-litter policy, and organic farming. Over 80% of tourism revenue goes to the community, and the rest is invested in maintaining and upgrading tourist spots. The womenfolk of the village with restricted lives have also been empowered by being integrated into transforming and managing activities and decorating the mud houses.
