According to the 2019-20 Bihar Economic Survey, Bihar is also vulnerable to climate change, which threatens to undermine its developmental efforts; a shift toward more sustainable development is essential for the state's continued economic growth.
UNEP will assist the state of Bihar in developing a greenhouse gas inventory and carbon footprint analyses as part of the partnership. UNEP will also assist in the development of climate impact vulnerability assessments as well as the capacity building of Bihar's government departments to deal with climate-related issues. The collaboration will also include the revision of Bihar's State Action Plans on Climate Change (SAPCC), which will align Bihar's climate priorities with India's National Action Plan on Climate Change.
